One may ask: Why is it such a big deal to acknowledge that and on account of that to be in the fold of Islam and a Muslim?

All Natives just like all Muslims have no issues with accepting the Creator and His Prophets including Prophet Muhammad (Salallahu Aleyhi wa Salam) and Prophet Jesus (Aleyhi Salam) before him and  Prophet Moses (Aleyhi Salam) before  Jesus and any other Prophet. Why should that be an issue?

The issue is when people come and try  to abuse religious beliefs and trick Native people out of their land and livelihoods. They start by erasing the Native culture and they assimilate the Native population into the invading population and take away their land and livelihoods. For that reason the first thing is to choose an Islamic symbol for Turtle Island Muslims that isn't intrusive on Native culture.

The moon is then the best option because it is present in Islamic culture representing Islam and is very much present in Native culture likewise.

The Continent Turtle Island represents what it is and it shows a turtle shape.

The Continent is in red because Natives consider themselves red people.

The blue color represents the sky and the green color represents the earth.

The reason the symbol is in a circle is because it refers to planet earth and Natives on this continent are very much alive and a part of this world.

One should not forget that the whole world eats given away wheat grown here on Turtle Island. If Natives stop the humanitarian assistance donations from their land, many people would starve. US took their constitution from the Iroquois Six Nations Confederacy and the rest of the countries in the world followed and based their constitutions on that. There are many other such things Natives contributed and continue to contribute. To deny the affect Natives of Turtle Island  have on the planet is a mistake.
